Responsibilities

The Public Information Officer (PIO) keeps the community informed about the activities of government agencies through direct communication, government websites and social networking websites. The PIO also serves as the spokesperson for the St. James Parish Government.

As designated by the parish president, the PIO serves as a liaison between the parish government and members of the media. The PIO also works with the Emergency Preparedness Director to prepare crisis information that facilitates how the parish handles communication during natural disasters and public emergencies. This duty includes assisting with internal communication and planning during a declared state of emergency.
